We left the corporate world to create a boutique firm employing a complete financial planning methodology, embracing contrarian perspectives and alternative investments, and championing an open architecture investing approach.
Our mission is to go beyond responsiveness to anticipation in order to deliver the exemplary service our clientele deserve. To optimize financial success, we ensure clients receive the time and scrupulous attention essential to developing a custom, effective wealth strategy. We educate every client on how wealth should serve, rather than complicate life.
Our firm has no proprietary investments and embraces third party performance reporting. We want to ensure our clientele know the guidance and information we provide is objective, accurate, and unencumbered by conflicts of interest.
Our clientele is a diverse group whose wealth originates from various sources. Each client has unique circumstances, as well as a distinct investment philosophy, philanthropic intentions, and life goals. Our clientele spans multiple generations and we are proud of our ability to comprehend and fulfill the needs of each.

aron Clark drives the vision, values, and direction of the firm. Helping clients pursue their dreams and witnessing the impact Monarch has on their lives is a powerful motivator for him. He has over 15 years of industry experience, a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. After serving on several nonprofit boards, he is currently involved with the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation and the Music Academy of the West. Kimberly S. Malesky, Partner

imberly Malesky oversees the delivery and implementation of financial plans for high net worth clients, and has extensive experience working with academic professionals, engineers, and widows. She has worked in financial services for more than a decade and loves the personal connections she has made with clients over that time. Kimberly has earned her MBA, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and an alumna of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Katherine Harvey Fellows program. She actively volunteers with her favorite non-profits in Santa Barbara County. In her spare time Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband and two step-children, reading and playing tennis. Brian T. Johnson, Client Advisor, Investments
rian Johnson is responsible for designing and refining customized portfolios, as well as researching and providing active monitoring and management of existing portfolios. His primary focus is working closely with clients to craft and execute financial strategies to help pursue their life goals. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics and is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional. He began his career at A.G. Edwards & Sons and was recruited to Monarch Wealth Strategies in 2008, where he played a critical role in the launch of the firm. Celeste Wong, Client Advocate
eleste Wong has managed our Santa Maria office since 2012, ensuring outstanding service to all our clients. Celeste holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology from University of California Davis and previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service. Her love of nature has inspired her to trek through Nepal to Everest Base Camp, hike the 220 miles of the John Muir trail, and summit several 14,000-foot peaks. She has three daughters in college and when not hiking, she and her husband are cycling and running in the local mountains. Email Celeste
Marina Andina, Client Advocate
arina Andina manages our Santa Barbara office, ensuring that the organization runs smoothly and that clients receive excellent service. Marina has a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts from Stanford University. Prior to joining Monarch, she spent a decade working for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program overseas and in the United States, working with UN agencies, non-profit organizations, and the U.S. Department of State. Marina left Washington DC to be closer to family in sunny Santa Barbara, where she enjoys watercolor painting and hiking with her French Bulldog. Email Marina
Burt White, Director of Research & Chief Investment Officer
s Managing Director of Research and Chief Investment Officer, Burt White is responsible for the strategic direction and continued growth of the LPL Financial Research platform. He provides day-to-day oversight of the Research team, which focuses on providing financial advisors with unbiased investment research about mutual funds, separate accounts, alternative investments, asset allocation strategies, financial markets, and the economy. He is also regularly sought after to speak to the national media—including CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg, and others.
Prior to joining LPL Financial in 2007, he served as a managing director and director of research for Wachovia Securities for 10 years. He started his financial services career on the buy side of the business as a research analyst for Thompson, Siegel, and Walmsley, a value-oriented asset manager. Burt earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary.

Jeffrey Buchbinder, VP & Market Strategist
s Vice President and Market Strategist, Jeffrey Buchbinder is a member of the LPL Financial Research tactical asset allocation committee and is responsible for developing and articulating equity and general market strategy with a focus on sector analysis. He is the primary author of Market Insight, a quarterly review of the financial markets, and Portfolio Compass, a bi-weekly snapshot of LPL Financial Research’s views on the equity, fixed income, and alternative investment markets.
Prior to joining the Research Department in July 2003, he worked as an equity research associate for Sanford C. Bernstein in New York and Deutsche Bank in Boston. He has 17 years of investment experience. Jeffrey earned his MBA with a concentration in finance from Duke University and has obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

John Canally, Chief Economic Strategist
ohn Canally is Chief Economic Strategist at LPL Financial. In this role, he plays an integral role in the development and articulation of LPL Financial market and investment strategies. He has been quoted in many national publications, such as USA Today, Washington Post, and TIME magazine, and is a guest on national business television and radio, including NPR, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and FOX Business News.
Before joining LPL Financial, John served as Senior Investment Strategist at PNC Wealth Management and PNC Institutional Investments where he assisted in the asset allocation and portfolio strategy decisions for the firm’s $50 billion in assets under management. He began his career as a Research Associate in the Fiscal Analysis Division at the Congressional Budget Office in Washington, D.C. John is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia and The CFA Institute. He has a BA in Economics from Villanova University and attended Stern Graduate School of Business at NYU.
